Shopify B2B 2026

Until recently, B2B sales on Shopify were primarily associated with the Shopify Plus plan. Companies using lower plans had to resort to additional applications or their own solutions to serve wholesale customers - we often observed this as a Shopify agency. Today, the situation is different - many B2B features have also been made available for Basic, Grow, and Advanced plans.

But does the new solution actually meet all the needs of these stores?

Let's check what has changed in Shopify B2B in 2026 and for which companies particular solutions will be the best choice.

Shopify B2B features 2026 - what's new

The biggest change in 2026 is the expansion of B2B features, which were previously mainly associated with Shopify Plus. Shopify has made it possible for users of Basic, Grow, and Advanced plans to also use the basic elements of wholesale sales.

Key Shopify B2B features include:

  • company profiles (wholesale customers) and assigning users to organizations

  • B2B catalogs with individual products, availability, and pricing

  • quantity discounts and purchase thresholds

  • payment terms, including the ability to set deferred payment deadlines

  • managing company locations

  • self-service ordering by business customers

  • automating sales processes with tools such as Shopify Flow

It is worth adding that the direction of Shopify B2B development was also confirmed during Shopify Editions Spring '26. The increasing emphasis on wholesale sales shows that Shopify is developing the platform not only for B2C stores but also for manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors. This is a good sign for companies planning to develop their B2B channel in the coming years.

Shopify B2B customer management & Shopify B2B price lists

In the store's admin panel, under the Customers tab, you'll find customer segments and Companies. One company can have one or many customers (contacts) assigned, which better reflects the purchasing structure of business clients.

This is particularly useful for companies that have several users responsible for purchases. For example, the company owner may have administrative access, while employees can place orders on behalf of the same organization.

One of the most important Shopify B2B features is catalogs with individual pricing. They allow for the creation of different offers for specific customer groups – with different assortments, prices, and purchase conditions.

In catalogs, you can, among other things:

  • set individual prices for business customers

  • restrict access to selected products

  • create different pricing tiers

  • set purchase thresholds

  • define prices based on the number of units ordered

On plans other than Shopify Plus, the number of B2B catalogs is limited, while Shopify Plus allows for more extensive catalog management and assigning them directly to companies and company locations.

Shopify B2B limitations without Plus

While Shopify has made many B2B features (globally and of course also in Shopify Poland) available to users of Basic, Grow, and Advanced plans, Shopify Plus still offers solutions designed for companies that need more advanced wholesale sales management.

The main limitations of Shopify B2B without a Plus license primarily concern catalogs and more advanced payment processes.

1. Limited number of B2B catalogs

On Basic, Grow, and Advanced plans, you can use a maximum of 3 active B2B catalogs. Shopify Plus does not have this limitation and allows for the creation of an unlimited number of catalogs. Additionally, only Shopify Plus users can assign catalogs directly to specific companies or company locations.

In practice, this means that a smaller wholesaler with a few customer groups can easily use standard Shopify plans. A problem may arise with a larger number of recipients, when each customer has individual prices, assortment, or commercial terms.

2. Limitations regarding B2B payments

Shopify B2B without Plus supports basic payment functions, such as payment terms (e.g., Net 30 or Net 60) and saved payment cards. However, more advanced financial mechanisms remain available exclusively in Shopify Plus.

This includes, among others:

  • mandatory deposits for companies

  • mandatory deposits for draft orders

  • partial payments

  • sending payment requests for a specific part of an order or fulfillment

For many small and medium-sized businesses, this will not be a big problem. However, for wholesalers operating on the basis of prepayments, advances, or phased settlement of orders, this can be a significant limitation.

3. Individual customer collaboration models

The biggest challenge for larger organizations may not be B2B sales itself, but managing many different collaboration models. Companies that have hundreds of business customers, individual pricing agreements, or a very extensive recipient structure may require additional applications, ERP integrations, or dedicated solutions.

In such cases, Shopify B2B can still be the foundation of the store, but often requires extending functionality beyond the platform's standard capabilities.

Shopify wholesale vs B2B differences

It is worth distinguishing between Shopify Wholesale and Shopify B2B. Shopify Wholesale was a solution focused primarily on simpler wholesale selling. Its main goal was to enable business customers to place orders at special prices.

Shopify B2B is now a more comprehensive approach to serving business customers.

Biggest differences:

Shopify Wholesale

Shopify B2B

simple wholesale channel

full service for business customers

mainly discounts and prices

companies, locations, catalogs

less elaborate accounts

business accounts with users

limited purchasing processes

greater automation

Wholesale on Shopify – how to get started?

For a company just starting B2B sales, Shopify can be a good starting point. Basic action plan:

1. Define the sales model
Do you sell:

- directly to stores?

- to distributors?

- to end companies?

2. Prepare the pricing structure

Before launching the store, it's worth establishing:

- discounts

- minimum orders

- quantity thresholds

- payment terms

3. Configure B2B customers

Add companies, catalogs, and product access.

4. Automate service

For a larger number of orders, it's worth using Shopify Flow and integrations.

Shopify B2B order automation and ERP integrations

One of the reasons for Shopify B2B's popularity is the ability to connect online sales with existing company systems.

ERP integrations with Shopify B2B allow synchronization of:

  • stock levels,

  • orders,

  • customer data,

  • invoices,

  • products.

However, it is worth remembering that the scope of integration depends on the ERP system used and the way processes are organized within the company.

For wholesalers and distributors, this is often the most important element of the entire implementation. For more extensive projects, including data migration, ERP integration, or custom sales processes, companies often choose to cooperate with a specialized Shopify agency that helps plan and implement the B2B solution appropriately.

Example process: B2B customer places an order → Shopify transfers data to ERP → warehouse fulfills shipment → customer receives status update.

B2B platform on Shopify - summary

Answering the question of whether Shopify is suitable for B2B in 2026, it is necessary to first analyze the needs of a specific business.
For small and medium-sized wholesalers, Shopify B2B can be a very good choice. For large organizations requiring complex processes, it is still worth considering Shopify Plus or an architecture based on additional systems.

Growing interest in B2B solutions means that Shopify Poland is increasingly emerging as a choice for companies that want to develop online sales in both retail and wholesale channels.

If you need:

  • company accounts

  • wholesale catalogs

  • individual prices

  • simple automations

  • the ability to conduct wholesale and retail sales within one store

Shopify is a much better platform today than before.

However, if your company operates as a large distributor with multiple customer tiers, complex agreements, and enterprise-grade ERP integration, Shopify Plus will likely be a more appropriate direction.
