Shopify Editions 2024 Event

Yesterday, i.e. 31/01/24, another event organized by Shopify took place – Shopify Editions Winter '24 . The presentation discussed the most important new features within Shopify. Attendees had the opportunity to see the direction in which the world's most popular SaaS engine, and thus, to a large extent, the entire eCommerce industry, will develop. We often hear that Shopify sets industry trends – can we say the same after the January Shopify Edition event?

Shopify News and Trends 2024

Shopify Editions Winter – Product Changes

  1. Expansion attributes, which will allow for better categorization and organization of the product database in the store and automated creation of variants.
  2. Increase in the number of variants to 2000 .
  3. Creation Shopify Combined Listing – a free app for Shopify Plus store owners that allows them to create product lists that combine specific products into one central list. Before this app, merchants who wanted to present all variants of a given product on a single product card were forced to create each individual variant as a separate SKU in Shopify.
  4. Add and edit metaobjects directly in the customization section.
  5. Collective edition of variants.
  6. Introduction of product color visualizations (color swatches) on the listing page.
  7. Access to all product media directly from product pages.

Shopify 2024 Search and Filtering Trends

  1. Implementing a more intelligent search engine that is based on searches semantic AI-based. This will allow for a better understanding of shopper intent, allowing them to use more natural phrases and expressions. Sematnic Search will be available to Shopify Plus customers.
  2. Possibility to add swatches and any visual elements to the collection page and search results page that will allow the customer to easily find products in specific colors or patterns.
  3. Possibility configuration of filtration logic in the Search & Discovery application. This will allow customers to receive products in search/filter results that match multiple specified values.

Shopify Subscription News

  1. Application sharing Shopify Subscriptions (currently for selected store owners – as of February 1, 2024), which allows you to create and manage subscription sales directly from your store dashboard. Within the app, customers will be able to:
  • settle on a weekly, monthly or annual basis
  • change, skip, pause, and unsubscribe at any time
  • apply discounts (percentage and fixed) on purchases of subscription products

The store owner will also be able to:

  • display a subscription widget in your Shopify store
  • display information about the possibilities offered by the subscription in his store on the product page, cart and thank you page
  • send customers emails regarding subscriptions
  • analyze all statistics regarding this sales model

Shopify Editions Winter 2024 Product Bundles

  1. Increasing the number of products that can be included in a product set from 10 to 30 .

Draft orders

  1. Adding the option to specify a discount and fill in the metafields to draft orders.

Discounts

  1. Expanding the discount logic 'Buy product X and get Y' and highlighting the scope of savings at the basket stage.
  2. Expanding free shipping logic.

Shopify Editions Winter: Shopify Checkout

  1. 14 new APIs and UI components for Shopify Plus customers.
  2. Development Checkout Extensibility .
  3. A new one-page checkout design that shortens the purchasing process by 4 seconds.
  4. Above 90 new applications that can be implemented for checkout.

Storefront performance

  1. A new dashboard that displays three key performance metrics – loading speed, interactivity, and visual stability.

Significant changes to Shopify B2B

  1. New permissions for store employees – sales representatives can place orders and view customer information only within their own accounts.
  2. Custom discounts for B2B customers thanks to Shopify Functions. These discounts can be added independently of the wholesale prices assigned to a specific customer.
  3. New template Trade dedicated strictly to B2B.
  4. Expanding the pool of products that can be sold in the B2B model to include non-physical products at the checkout stage.

Shopify Markets PRO

Shopify Markets PRO is currently available to all merchants registered in the US.

  1. Within Shopify Markets PRO it is possible to set a local payment method and indicate duties and taxes.
  2. Ability to filter a specific market in Shopify analytics.

Opinions

  1. Sync ratings and reviews across more platforms, such as your Shopify store, Shop app, and Shopify Collective based on a connection with Yotpo, Loox, Judge.me, Okendo, and Stamped.io.
  2. In-store review responses are synced across channels.

  1. Create professional product photos with AI-based creator .
  2. Ability to remove and change photo backgrounds in Shopify with the wizard.

Shopify Mobile on Shopify Editions Winter

  1. Providing a widget for tracking store performance on iOS devices.

Over 100 new products in Shopify

Shopify is growing rapidly, as evidenced by the number of new features announced and already being implemented. In total, we're talking about over 100 new elements within the entire ecosystem. Many of these will also apply to Shopify Polska , but we certainly need to be aware that all the new features presented during Shopify Editions will be implemented step by step.
